Have you ever been standing by Victoria Harbour, gazing for Santa’s sleigh passing by on his run over Earth? Have you ever looked up into a cloud free subtropical sky waiting for the snow to fall? I have… But Hong Kong is certainly not the place for a white Christmas. It’s time to get over it though, since these seductively sweet Christmas cocktails are a safe card to a successful party! (and I promise you that they taste better than any snow)
Candy Cane Crush
If you want your guests to be sticky and sweet this delicious drink is certainly what you should serve! With only three ingredients the recipe is super simple, super tasty and the serving is incredibly photogenic.
1 bottle chilled Champagne
White Creme de Cocoa
Imagine warming up next to the cozy fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate… Imagine that the chocolate also contained alcohol… I will help you, here I got the most marvellous recipe for red wine based hot chocolate! This drink surely brings together the best of two worlds, and adds a nostalgic atmosphere to your party.
5 ounces dark chocolate, finely chopped
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 quart (4 cups) whole milk
Pinch of salt
1 1/2 cups fruity red wine
Put chocolate, cocoa powder, sugar, and cinnamon in a large saucepan. Add the milk and bring to a simmer over medium heat, while whisking occasionally, until it’s hot and smooth like yourself! it takes about 5 minutes. Stir in the salt and remove from the heat. Add the wine before dividing into mugs. Garnish with cinnamon sticks and cocoa powder, or why not whipped cream and marshmallows for the nostalgic feeling!
Fluffy and white like Santa’s body, the eggnog is just as traditional as the Christmas tree or the snow outside. Since the other two is hard to get here in HK the eggnog is more important than ever! In this simple recipe you can use your usual cocktail shaker.
1 1/2 ounces DonQ Anejo Rum 1 1/2 ounces ruby port
1/2 ounce simple syrup
Put the DonQ Anejo Rum, ruby port, simple syrup, and the egg in the shaker, and shake. Add ice and shake again. Pour it in a white wine glass and dust with nutmeg, done! Then just let your guests get drunk while slurping this fluffy sweetness!
Have yourself a holly jolly Christmas with lots of love and alcohol!
